Sick & Tired

I am having trouble composing my thoughts lately, but I am listening to a lot of music, which I find helps. I am moving to a new place (RL) on Monday, so I may be scarce in the next few days. Today's look was inspired by a song that is stuck in my head now, so rather then ramble on about the clothing, I thought I would give you the lyrics to ponder. Green Hope: Hair Fair & Bandanna Day Post 1/2

Today is Bandanna Day in Second Life, the day we shed our vanity and out wigs to show support for those we hope to help through our donation to the Locks of Love Charity, the annual fundraiser associated with Hair Fair. Bandannas are for sale throughout the Hair Fair with 100% going to the charity. There are a nice variety of bandanas from hair designers, other designers, bloggers, and every day residents of Second Life, and they are only $50LaLas a piece, so grab a few! They are transferable, so grab some for your friends while you are there. They make a great club event, and it's a great way to promote the cause.



This is the first of the two bandannas that I picked up this year, designed by the ever talented *MIASNOW*. I simply had to grab this one in the green version, since it is my favorite colour, and also symbolizes hope to me. I don't know about you, but I would be thrilled so sheer of my RL hair if it meant finding a cure for Cancer, it's treatment, and Alopecia, two of the leading causes of baldness in children.



I went with an all green palate. Starting with this fabulous Chenille Sweater from PIG, and pairing it with a pair of Green Leather Pants from ::Pink Cadillac::. Shoes are the amazing Slinky Stilettos from Maitreya in Pine Green. The bag is another great one from [LeLutka], the GLEN bag in a sweet Olive Drab print. I am wearing a great freebie necklace from PixelDolls, it may still be available in the shop, but I am not certain. The bangle is from =DeLa*=, I adore these Bellini Bangles, here in the Deepforest Green.

Sassy Kitten: Hair Fair & Bandana Day Post 2/2

Another adorable bandanna I picked up to celebrate Bandanna Day in SL, is this adorable one from Dead Kitties. This one is really special, with cute kitty ears and piercings. I love the purple stars pattern, but as it is mod, I think you can tint the stars any colour you wish in edit mode. Remember, these sweet do-rags are only $50LaLas a piece, and transferable, with 100% of the cost going directly to the Locks of Love charity. You can find the sale kiosks at several locations throughout the Hair Fair, you can direct teleport to one HERE.



I went with a grungier look this time, starting with a great Skull Thermal from *PUNCH DRUNK*, over a pair of crinkled black slack from Sweetest Good-bye. The amazing scripted Low Top Chucks are from AKEYO. Necklace is Canimal's Picture Pendant, Black Jelly Bracelets are by [Overdose]/Punk by Proxy. One of my favorite kitschy purses of all time is this adorable Record Purse, I have had it well over 2 years, but was unable to locate the shop name or location.



The skin I am wearing in both of today's posts in the Emma from *REDGRAVE* in Tan, this is the *icegrey* make-up. Eyes are from Miriel, now unfortunately no longer available since Miriel Enfield closed her shop this past month. Love Lashes are from [Detour].

SXY 2ND Magazine Drops - It's A Hot One!

I have been doing a little side project for SXY 2ND Magazine, writing a monthly "SXY Scopes" column, with horoscope advice and compatibility quotients. This month's column, celebrating all you Cancer babies out there is another great one. Check out the fabulous shot my sister, and editor of SXY 2ND, Anessa Stine did for this month's article. Vain Inc. Magazine Issue 23 - Now Available!

The July 2009 Issue of Vain Inc. Magazine hit the stands yesterday, and it has to be one of the best efforts as of yet. Yours' truly was beyond flattered when Editor-in-chief, and all around super-woman, Toko Voom asked me to pose for the cover. What does one wear on a cover of a magazine that sums up one's personal style and still makes for a compelling image. I settled on a great sexy top from Bare@Rose Tokyo, a skirt from Maitreya, and Jewelry by Paper Couture, ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~, and (Caroline's) Jewelry. Hair is by Aden, skin by *REDGRAVE*, eyes by Miriel, and lashes from [Detour]. I simply love how soft and romantic the picture is, and I think it really captures my spirit. Thanks Toko!

The Way You Make Me Feel!

Wednesday, June 25th/2009; a day most of us thought would be like any other, but the sad news of Farrah Fawcett's anticipated passing this morning, followed by the shocking news of Michael Jackson's sudden death at the age of 50 changed this day in history forever.



Say what you will about Michael Jackson's freakish and bizarre later years, in the 80s, he was a g-d. I rushed home from school everyday when I was twelve and fought my three siblings for control of the record player, where I promptly played my Thriller album, again, and we all danced around the living room, knowing every word to every song. I had his poster on my bedroom wall, and I wore tiny buttons on my denim jacket, with Michael all over them. I was a true child of the 80s, and would have killed for that red studded leather jacket at one time, even though I knew it was hella dorky.



I remember the songs, the videos, and the way Michael Jackson changed the face of popular music and videos forever. I learned to do the moonwalk in stocking feet on my mother's hardwood floors. Thriller was a short film, going beyond mere music video status, I remember the night it premiered on TV, my whole family tuned in to watch. I remember the parodies of Beat It! and I'm Bad, Weird Al did so many, and that is the truest from of flattery. Those parodies are still as popular as the originals.



Michael was, to say the least, a character. But his life was both epic and tragic. We know about his legal troubles, something that bothers me still is the not knowing the truth. He never had a real childhood, the stories of his overbearing father are legendary. His entire family is a circus of freaks and eccentrics. We know about his bizarre fatherhood displays, calling his child 'blanket'. We know of his horrific plastic surgeries and his skin condition, something that has been fodder for the tabloids for decades now. But now, all I can think of are his triumphs. He was an incredible talent, he broke down a lot of walls, and he paved the way for so many artists. Justin Timberlake comes to mind, his style is so similar. So today, I threw together a look that makes me think of Michael. Military style jacket, black and white, the Jheri Curl, shades, and those white socks.

Rest in peace Michael, hope you enjoy that Neverland Ranch that is heaven and can finally find yourself, accept yourself, and feel the love you had been searching for your whole life. All I have for you today are thanks, thank you Michael Jackson, for The Way You Make Me Feel!

One Last Post... For Today Anyways!

As a final nod to ~~Ivalde~~ & -L'Abel- Appreciation Day, I wanted to re-post some images that I originally blogged in December 2007. At that time, my wardrobe was chock full of ~~Embla~~, ~~Ask~~, and ~~Ivalde~~ content. I created a series of collages, showing off all of my "Look Of Ivalde". They are my most viewed images on Flickr, with over 6,500 views each, and if you click the image, you will see the full outfit credits too. Just a small peek at the many faces of ~~Ivalde~~, and the reason I named my blog Second Life Fashion Addict. There are eight collages in total. And they are so popular, they still register up to 20 looks a day on my Flickr stream. Even Linden Labs felt they were able to use them without asking in their e-mail ads pimping out the new XStreet SL acquisition. Enjoy!

~~Ivalde~~ & -L'Abel- Appreciation Day - Thank You Bloggers!

I wanted to say thank you to each and every blogger, blog feed site administrator, and blog reader for their participation in ~~Ivalde~~ & -L'Abel- Appreciation Day.






It has been an amazing day, reading through the over 45 posts dedicated to Neferia Abel's work and person, and I know that when Nef gets her internet connection back, and looks at all the love and appreciation, the kind words and memories, she will be overcome with emotion. Nef has always kept a low profile, and seems to almost doubt her own skill in the most charming way, so your words and comments, your collective effort in participating in this meme, will really astonish her.

You can read though the amazing posts, and see all the participants names in the Blog Participants List. The list will continue to grow as I discover other posts on the various feeds, or if I am sent the links. I hope when you stumble across a look you adore, you leave a comment for the blogger in question. Sometimes we have our looks done weeks ahead of time, so preparing for a meme like this in just a few days meant a lot of people working diligently on very short notice.

Thanks again to each and every one of you for making today happen, your efforts are appreciated more then you can imagine.

New Sensation [Ivalde/L'Abel Day Post 4/4]

So now we get to my final post in this four post series, the one that absolutely tickles me with fashionista joy. Several months ago, after rebuilding the Ivalde SIM, Neferia debuted her new line of original creations, cleverly named -L'Abel-. It is a modern hand-drawn, hand made textured line of clothing including dress casual and some almost couture style creations. The looks are innovative, the colors modern, and the feel is something so completely different and unexpected. This is the -L'Abel- Aline Gold Dress, a wonderful symphony of sculpted, alpha and system elements. It is utterly feminine, yet has an edgy side to it, it looks timeless, because it is of this time. It comes complete with matching gloves, and is one of my many favorites under Neferia's new label. I have seen many others choose this dress for today's blogger challenge, and it looks pretty fabulous on everyone, no matter the size or shape of their avatar. That is a true testament to Nef's skill.



I opted to wear some amazing *REDGRAVE* shoes, that matched the look particularly well, and am holding a Muism clutch. The earrings and ring are both from (Shiny Things), and the bracelet is created by Eyva Matova but I couldn't quite remember how or when I received it. Hair is from Diversity Hair, and the skin is *REDGRAVE*. I really enjoyed putting this look together, as it just seemed to all flow organically out of my scattered inventory into a cohesive look.

I know many are sad that we will be without our dear Neferia for at least a months time, but I am thrilled to say that with the help of many friends, we managed to get Nef to agree to leave a small in-world presence in her stunning new Art Deco style shop on Retrology, where her most recent -L'Abel- collection is available, as well as many of her fabulous modern and vintage ~~Ivalde~~ looks. My wish for Nef is the same thing I wish for all my dear friends, to be healthy, happy, and grounded, whatever that means for the individual. I know Nef's mind will be positively spinning with new ideas when she returns to SL, and I know she will return when she is ready. For now, I will treasure my favorite designs from all the creators I adore, and not for one second forget that RL often can change so quickly, that our second lives become the first casualties of difficult times. If you have a favorite designer, be they well known, or obscure, I urge you to stop for a moment the next time you are in-world, make a quick note card expressing your appreciation for their work, and thanking them for beinging something special into our Second Life.

Golden Years [Ivalde/L'Abel Day Post 3/4]

It has been amazing watching Neferia Abel's skill and range grow over the two plus years that I have known her. She has gone from making reproductions, to branching out and making "inspired" looks. She looks at the fashion of a particular era, seems to be able to distill the flavor of that time period down, and then make a look that is not only classic and familiar, but also timeless and unique. This ~~Ivalde~~ Ranka Gold Dress is a perfect example. It has the flavor of the sixties, but is also incredibly trendy and fresh. I adore that Nef includes stocking with so many of her looks, as she does with this look. The details are also spectacular, look closely at the tiny round buttons on the back of the collar, things that she could have easily skipped and would have gone unnoticed, but her inclusion of them just makes the outfit all the more perfect.



I pulled in some adorable ETD boots, and a bag from [gisele] to round out the look. Accessories includes a great Bangle from [Armidi Gisaci] and a ring from (Caroline's). Hair is by TRUTH, with skin by -AnaLu-. I just think this look is perfection, great for any party occasion, or a day of shopping in the city.

This look makes me smile, largely because it makes me see Nef's talents in a new way. These are truly her golden years, she is now producing on a whole new creative level. She has gone beyond mere reproductions and has become an entirely different sort of content creator, creating what is new and innovative, catering to her customer base, and making herself happy in the process. Nef has always struck me as a wonder woman of sorts. She is a mother of six, a devoted wife to her amazing husband Brumm, her RL work has been in a caring and often selfless vocation, and she is unfailingly generous with her time and talents. I have seen so many pictures of her family, including her dog, that I have lost count. I have spoken to her about the pressures of owning a SIM and managing a SL business, and we have shared our love stories. We live in entirely opposite time zones, so we rarely got a chance to get together, but when we did catch each other, our conversations would go on for upwards of an hour, and cover all manner of topics, always ending with hugs and kisses and "I love you". She calls me her "Ketzmin", and she is my Nefmin, my dear Nef.

If You Want To Be Happy For The Rest Of Your Life... [Ivalde/L'Abel Day Post 2/4]

What is ~~Ivalde~~ the brand best known for? Capturing Vintage and Retro looks and making them appealing, fun, and oh so feminine. I knew I wanted to blog at least one of my hundreds of ~~Ivalde~~ retro looks today, and so I decided that the one that best captured Neferia's attention to detail was the Kassandra Blue Dress. It includes the adorable rubber gloves and the apron. This dress makes me smile for so many reasons, not all entirely innocent. I wore it to a "Dysfunctional Family Dinner" event at PIN UPS, I wore the blue dress alone for a date night on Retrology with Draco, and I did one of my first Photo Shoots for my own pleasure with this look, doing a "50s' Demo Kitchen" look. That was before I even started blogging. I even wore just the apron and gloves with heels to make some very sexy pictures for Draco's birthday that year.



I love Nef's attention to detail, going so far as to make colour and fabric choices that suit the era of the design, combining both hand painted and photo-sourced elements seamlessly, and always making it almost impossible to choose any outfit in just ONE colour. I decided to go Stepford Wife and added in this fabulous feather duster from BLONDE, stockings from 1-800-Bettie's, and shoes from Maitreya. Jewelry includes the perfect pearl necklace from Decollage, and opal earrings from (Yummy). Skin is from Celestial Studios and hair is from Retro-rific Ingenue.

So, as the Jimmy Soul song says "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife, Go for my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you". Well, I think there are going to be a lot of unhappy husbands, because any woman wearing ~~Ivalde~~ is simply beautiful. Thanks Nef, for making my retro dreams come true.

Love At First Sight [Ivalde/L'Abel Day Post 1/4]

When trying to decide how to tell my story of my love for Neferia Abel and her work, I decided I needed to start at the beginning, with the very first gown I purchased. According to my inventory, I purchased this in March of 2007, and I must say I had never seen anything like ~~Ivalde~~ when I first set eyes on the shop.

I was busy working at PIN UPS nightclub, then only two months in business, and we were looking for vendors for the upper gallery of the club. As always seems to be the case, it was my sister Anessa who grabbed me the moment I logged that day saying, "You have to come here and see this store, OMG you won't believe these clothes, all vintage!". I jumped on her TP and discovered myself in the midst of a large wooden shop, with huge panels covered in vendors, on a Norweigan SIM with a fishing village outside the door. I think the next twenty minutes were a blur, as I purchased at least ten outfits that day. But I remember my first, as most women do, and it is still so very special to me. This is the Janette Orchid Dress by then brand ~~Embla~~.



Within the week, Anessa had managed to get Nef to take a spot in our club, and so began a love affair that involved a lot of me shopping while DJing as my tips rolled in (I kid you not). When I really first met and spoke to Neferia, there was a joy and mutual respect instantly, a common love of fashion and things from the past. She is a most astonishing woman, and I have said to her more then once, "Do you sleep?". This dress holds a particularly special place in my heart, as I wore it on one of my first dates with Draco, when we went to Phat Cats and danced the night away, this is also the exact Celestial Studios skin and ETD hair that I wore that night. The Lya shoes and the stunning *KessKreations* jewelry are new, but looks perfect with this dress. A girl never forgets her first true love.

Oh Happy Day!

Sometimes, the stars align and things just click. We often are only aware of the meaning things hold in our lives when we suddenly find ourselves without them. It may be a person, a place, a treasured item, or a simple belief that gets taken from us, and it can be devastating. When I heard that Neferia Abel was closing down all her ~~Ivalde~~ and -L'Abel- shops, including her SIM, while she recuperated from illness, moved house, and was without internet connection for at least a month, I suddenly realized how complacent we can get. How we can take things for granted, and how we assume those iconic content creators will always be there for us in SL. Fellow blogger Achariya echoed these sentiments in her post today. Nef is more then fashion designer to me, she is a dear friend, so this was a very emotional realization. But with a very large amount of luck, timing, and help from friends all over SL, we managed to get Nef to leave a shop open on Retrology during her absence, and I could not be more thrilled. Neferia, being who she is, could not go without leaving a special gift for her beloved customers, and this Lime Sigrid Dress from her -L'Abel- line is that gift, available to everyone in the new store on the table in the lounge area.



The -L'Abel- Sigrid dress is a stunningly feminine floral treat, the sculpted fluttery capped sleeves are delicious, and it can be worn in short or long versions. I wanted a relaxed look, and pulled in my amazing new Rock Candy Watch from (Caroline's), available right across from the new ~~Ivalde~~ location on Retrology. On the other wrist, another treat from a Retrology vendor, the ~*Fresh Baked Goods~ Gem Jelly Donut Bangle in Silver, colour script changed to match the dress. The Yellow Rose Hair Flower is created by an equally dear friend and Retrology veteran, /artilleri/'s Antonia Marat. The perfect girly shoes to match this lovely look are from (Shiny Things), the amazing Belles, here in the Acid colour.



The lovely long messy hair is from Mirai Style, the wig is called .+*Nacy*+., and I think it is very sexy. This skin was a gift from my sister Anessa, very different from my usual look, the *REDGRAVE* Emma 2 Tan Skin in Smoky1 is definitely a big change for me, but I do like it, particularly the full glossy lips. These eyes are new to me from Miriel, picked up on my last trip over before she closes shop, they are her Standard Eyes in Sunlit Tree, a stunning yellow green hazel eye. Bedroom Lashes are from Cake.

Om Shanti Om

There is little doubt about my absolute favorite event to DJ at PIN UPS, it is the Bollywood Night Event. We had one recently, and I get so excited just getting dressed for the event, I have to try to contain myself. I almost always wear a new costume for each event, with my inventory now filling up with all manner of Saree, Salwar Kameez, Cholie and Lengha, Dupatta, and Bangles. This time, I was doubly lucky, as the day before the event, both Maitreya and Zaara: and new co-release, including this exquisite wig by Maitreya, called Amber, which worked perfectly with some of the hair jewelry I already owned from Zaara:, including in the Suvarna Set, here in White. The hair is parted particularly smoothly, which lets the forehead gems show off to best effect, and also works with the nose piercing, the necklace, bangles, and anklets. This is a good time to remind all of you that Zaara: is having a big sale right now, so get there before June 1st to take advantage of the sale prices, I may just see you there!



The costume is also from Zaara:, it is an absolutely stunning Choli and Lengha, in a Nude, almost gold, colour. The Frawla set comes with two versions of the top, on short and one longer version. The longer version that I am wearing has the deliciously sexy ties in up the back, it is just amazingly well textured, and wearing it feels so much like stepping into the leading role of a Bollywood film. The skirt is lovely layers of silks and lace, I adore Zaara:'s handpainted details. The wrap around the upper arms is part prim and part system layer, entirely ingenious, so it really feels like it is wrapping the body and move beautifully when dancing. I need to purchase some new Henna, but this set was on hand, a gift from the Halloween "Ghost Busters" Hunt from Sari's, the Aubergine Henna, it is a nice compliment to this lovely skin tone. I am also wearing a Pearl Ring from Caroline's Jewelry.



The skin was another free gift, received many months ago via the Bianca F. Subscribe-O-Matic Group. The QS Skin, in the appropriately named Darjeeling skin tone, is by Rachel Delgado, and I own several of her skins. Hazel Eyes are by Miriel, and Thora Lashes are from MMS (now LeLutka).

I will be heading over to the Zaara: sale shortly, in search of more amazing costumes and accessories to wear to future Bollywood Night Events. I always play a cool mix of Bollywood hits, modern Hindi and Punjabi tunes, some Bhangra remixes, and other surprises that get the crowd going. Back To Black

Today is one of the hardest days I have had in so very long. Heartbreak is never easy, and no one seems to be able to escape the feelings of loss, anger, sadness, loneliness, and hurt that comes with risking your heart. I risked my heart, after being destroyed by a relationship in the past, and after two years of what I though was the best thing in my life, I am alone again. I can't deny the feelings in my heart, I don't know how long I will feel this way, but I am so very lost. It's hard when you still are in love with someone, someone who was your best friend and who you knew was your soul mate, and see them move in another direction, whatever the reason. Today I am mourning the loss of what could have been, for I had let myself dream of the future, and all those dreams are now dead. I wore this dress this past weekend, when I acted as a fill in DJ for a UVogue Fashion Show featuring Stiletto Moody shoes and LeeZu fashion designs, among others.



This dress was in my inventory, and I threw it on for the event, the LeeZu Betty Flexi Dress in Black is a very sexy number indeed, more so then I anticipated, so I slipped a lovely Black Sheer Desire camisole from **Battered Boudoir** on underneath to make it more modest for a daytime event. The shoes are Stiletto Moody Pinup Pumps in the Patent Color Set, with colour change versatility that I always find helps when pulling together a look in a hurry.

As I was DJing, I didn't need a handbag, so I went with some great jewelry looks. Starting with a simple pair of Claris Black Pearl Earrings from ~Muse~. The necklace is also in Black Pearls, from *kraftika, No.129, as is the Black Pearl Bauble Flower Ring from Caroline's Jewelry. I also grabbed a pair of spectacular Jujubes Gem Antique Silver Bangles from ~*Freah Baked Goods*~, with colour scripted gems set to Black Onyx.



Hair is a simple loose pulled back look from ETD, the beautifully sculpted Yvette style in Black, one of Elika's newer styles, and so nicely textured. The skin is -AnaLu- *inRainbows*, natural complexion, and a neutral toned make-up with subdued .greyish. shadow. Hazel Eyes are from Miriel, and Thora Lashes are from MMS (now LeLutka).

I know I will be OK, eventually, right now all I know is I need time. I have dear friends, I have close family, and I know that time heals all wounds. I have to get over the anger, the disappointment, the hurt of a broken heart, but I know that there is no other path for me. I simply have to move on and come back to being OK with myself, find my strength, and find my way out of the very dark place I now find myself in.

A Certain Shade of Green

It's no secret that green is my favorite colour, it is my mother's favorite too. I was visiting my parents yesterday and went out into their amazing backyard, complete with Koi Pond and Waterfall, Fairy Garden, fruit trees, and an amazing array of wildlife. While there, I saw some colourful birds working away at the feeders, a groundhog scuttling across the lawn, and several fat green frogs sitting on the rocks beside the Koi Pond, catching all those annoying mosquitoes. The frogs are pretty spectacular, brilliant green and it gives me hope that we haven't entirely destroyed the environment as of yet. My parents live just north of Toronto, still in a busy Suburb full of the urban sprawl that is taking over and leaving less green space and more animals homeless. They live in close proximity to a creek, and I think that is where their many visitors are coming from, this includes a pesky mink that ate more the half my fathers expensive huge Koi fish last year, and wild rabbits that have made a home under the deck. Not to mention a pair of Racoons that regularly visit in the night. Green is the colour of that backyard right now, and it is so nice to see after the long Canadian winter. Green makes me feel like that new grass, the leaves on the trees, reborn in a sense. When I wear it, I am happy.



I loved this DP*yumyum Candy Pop top in Green the minute I saw it, it comes with three options for the prim attachment part, this is the longest, and can be a perfectly sweet mini-dress, but I decided to pair it with some spectacular Zaara: Jewelled Jeans in Indigo. Speaking of which, Zaara: is having a sale as we speak, it lasts till June 1st, so get shopping! The shoes are the adorable ETD Heel-Strap Platforms in Emerald, I picked them up for s song at the last ETD sale, the Leather Bag is from Pampered Princess, in this great golden Honey colour.



I was waiting for a chance to wear this amazing Pansy Stained Glass Windows Necklace from *Wallflowers*, I picked it up at the last Jewelry Expo, organized by Miriel Enfield. The bracelets are by ~*Fresh Baked Goods*~, absolute favorite for their customizable gems, the Sculpted Sugar Gem Bangle Set in Gold. I am also wearing a ring by the darling Kesseret Steeplechase from *KessKreations*, the Antonia Ring is also scripted so that you can select the metal and gem colours.

On to essentials, and this essentially brilliant Felicity style from ETD, a soft and beautifully romantic wig, with a really lovely single shoulder sweep. The skin, complete with lovely green eye shadow is another -AnaLu- *InRainbows* skin mod, I am simply in love with them, in case it has escaped notice. Hazel eyes are from Miriel, and lashes are the Thora set from MMS (now LeLutka).

Here's hoping I see many more green things, especially those frogs in that certain shade of green, all summer long and for many many years to come. I hope you see many things of green in your summers too, and find the happiness that nature can bring, It really is such a centering thing, to be out in the grass and hear the water splash over the rocks, and hear the birds sing, and know that there is something beyond the computer screen that is worth seeing and saving.

Pansies Are For Memories

Pansies, are a flower that symbolized memories. I have been running through my memories lately, the good and the not so good. Sometimes memories haunt you, and other times they bring comfort. When I think of pansies, I think of my grandmother. She was the most loving individual I have ever known, she had this energy of love about her, she accepted everyone for who they were, and she never ever complained, no matter how hard her life got. She will be gone 12 years in August, and I can hardly believe it. She died from complications of Cancer of the Liver. She was ready to go, she missed my grandfather who had died when I was just a child, and she was at peace with herself. I was not so ready to let her go, but that is true of loss in general, we are never ready, we never want to see it coming. I was there when she passed, at her side, in her home, caring for her mid-way through my nursing school training. I had never seen anyone die, though I had seen someone already gone in my travels as a nursing student, and it was not a frightening thing. But I blamed myself for a long time, since I had given her a dose of morphine to treat her pain minutes before she passed. I felt it was my fault, now I know I could not have stopped it, she was in a coma at the time. I miss her every day of my life, she was my best friend. She loved pretty things, and I know she would have loved this dress.



This Floratta Long Dress in a Pansy print by *Reale* is so lovely, so elegant, yet casual and comfortable at the same time. I think it incredibly well textured, with lovely lace edged skirts and flexing ties at the neck. It comes in several prints, but the moment I saw pansies, I saw a favorite flower of my grandmother's and knew I had to have this version.



How do you accessorize a dress so lovely, how do you add interest without taking anything away? I was thrilled to come upon the lovely and appropriately named Melancholy Set in White from {Violet Voltaire}, something I picked up at the amazing Armoire Jewelry Showcase. The floral theme and colour fit so well, and the delicate nature of the prim work is so very feminine. I added a simple Pearl Ring from Caroline's Jewelry, and The Blossom Bag in Blanche from Paper Couture to finish the look. The perfect simple yet elegant shoe is the Stiletto Moody Pinup Pump in Patent, this is the colour change version, the one I would recommend, as the colour options are amazing.



Another lovely up-do style from TRUTH, the Victoria style is perfection for a summer night out in a fresh dress. You can see the casual curls, and it is easy to wear with long earring or an up-turned collar. This skin is another lovely colorful mod by -AnaLu-, the *InRainbows* line is really great for all those fans of natural lipped skins with a more dramatic eye. My eyes are by Miriel, and lashes are from MMS (now LeLutka).

I hold on to my memories tight, sometimes too tight where it concerns the sad ones. But I do have something in my possession that is now more precious then the pressed pansies from my grandmother's 85th birthday party. Before she died, I found a book called "To Our Children's Children". In it are lists of questions to ask your grandparents or parents, asking them to recall moments of their lives. You can use it to document your own life for your children, or use it to interview someone else. The questions are wonderful, and before she died, I managed to tape-record my grandmother answering a great many of them. I haven't been able to listen to them yet, not sure why, but I am ready to sit and listen to the memories, and remember her, and her voice, and most importantly her brilliant deep belly laugh.

Cargo Cult

Sometimes, I just have to get out of the fancy dresses and go with a little bit of funky grunge. It's hard to believe that these amazing Bare@Rose Black Lowrise Heavy Cargos, which come in a pack with at least four colour versions, are only possible since the introduction of sculpted prims in-world. I could not have imagined it two and a half years ago when I first rezzed into my Second Life, but sculpted prims are now the norm, and content creators are using them in some of the most ingenious ways. These pants have seven, yes seven, sculpted prim attachments to make them look so incredibly real, flexi ties,pockets, and a belt with a pouch on it are all part of the wow factor. With such a great lowrise pant, I opted for a simple tummy baring Camo Crop T-Shirt from Little Rebel, which is unfortunately now no longer available since it's recent closing. A huge loss in my mind, it was one of the first stores I discovered, with the help of a list of favorites from Antie (Antonia Marat).



I dug into my large folder of review copies, and re-discovered this great Chicago Bag from House of Heart. I love this bag for a few reasons, one, because it sits to the left side, which is for some reason less common, and also because it fit so well even with my large, well, boobs. It is a great looking bag, and I didn't even realize that House of Heart did more then hair, shows you how out of the loop I am. I wore a great Natural Gold Bead Ring from Caroline's, and one of the fabulous wrist bands from Emery. The shoes are the a brilliant pair of AKEYO LowTop Chucks, the scripting and colour options are amazing, the texturing is perfection, and they are great for guys and gals alike.



Today I made my last trip, I am afraid, to the amazing Miriel. As I mentioned in my last post, Miriel Enfield is planning on closing up shop soon, and taking her amazing jewelry, eyes, and other creations off the market. It is incredibly sad for me to see such an icon among SL content creators choose to close her doors, depriving us all of her amazing work. I stopped in today to buy a few more of Miriel's brilliant eyes, and her lovely Gibson Girl wig. Please don't miss out on visiting her shop and island, even if it is just to look around. I am wearing a pair of her Hazel Eyes here, and she has dozens of lovely eyes, which can be purchased individually for only $50LaLas, or available in great 4-packs for just $125LaLas.

The Hat and Hair combo is a favorite from Mirai, the .+*Lack*+. style comes with this great texture and colour changing hat, and I love the long wavy dark locks. Skin is an -AnaLu- mod, this is the *inRainbows* Natural tone skin with the .brownish. make-up. I love the way the MMS (now LeLutka) Thora Lashes look with the -AnaLu- skins.

Going Back To caLLie!

I can remember quite clearly the first time I discovered caLLie cLine, the store. I remember being struck by how pretty and girly and fresh the store looked. How welcoming, and I remember thinking this is a sorority girls dream store. It's kind of my impression of the woman that is Callie Cline. She likes to have fun, and party, and she fits in wherever she goes. She makes everyone feel welcome, and she is generous and fun. Today, bloggers from all over the grid are saying thank-you to Callie, thanks for organizing a week of celebrating what we do, thanks for being your fabulous self, and thanks for making everyone around you smile. This outfit is just one of my caLLie favorites, the incredibly fun wiLd cat dress in purpLe, and one of Callie's system layer fat beLts in bLood red. I want to thank Callie, simply for being the wonderful woman she is.



The fun accessories I chose to pair with this look are my always handy Decollage, Bubblegum Pearls, tinted to match the belt. I also pulled on a couple of great and girly bracelets from ::MEZZO::. The sweet Cosmetics Chain Bracelet has some adorably detailed cosmetic bottles dangling from a chain, the set comes with gold, silver, or black metal versions. The Dots Bangle 2Set from ::MEZZO:: is another cute detailed bracelet, it comes in two different coloured versions. The boots are a perfect match, Melanie Zhao's "XINFUL" Boots in Ox Blood Leather from ZHAO Shoes.



The hair is my new favorite from TRUTH Hair, the Linda wig is as close to the shape and texture of my actual hair style as I have found in-world. A combination of sculpted prims and alpha textured whisps, simply amazing. I want to mention my choice of eyes particularly, the Miriel Hazel Eyes. I was saddened to see Miriel's announcement that she plans to close her shop and give up her island in the near future. I urge you to go see her beautiful island and shop for some of her absolutely exceptional creations before they disappear, as too many of our iconic designers seem to be doing lately. Tiptoe Through The Tulips

This time of year is a favorite, second only to Autumn. Spring brings sunshine, but cool breezes and longer evening before it gets dark. I feel like I can get more done, whether I can or not, it is a nice feeling. I love watching tulips push up through the earth in my mother's amazing gardens. I used to order bulbs and deliver them to her in unmarked paper bags, so that their colourful flowers would be a surprise. Although many are eaten by squirrels, rabbits, and as of late, groundhogs, that run around my parents backyard, the ones that survive the winter make for a magical burst of fresh colour. Sometimes, a fresh spring day calls for an equally fresh coloured dress. This adorable Polka Love dress by Betty Doyle of Ingenue is just such a frock. I really love the crisp turned up shoulder detail, and the skirt is a whirl of perfectly textured panels. It reminds me of the lovely tulips currently making their show-stopping display.



I went light on the accessories, taking into account the details on the shoulder and the hair accessory. Starting with a lovely basic pearl strand with an interesting front clasp detail, the Vixie White Pearl Necklace by *KessKreations* is really spectacular as a basic pearl strand. Kesseret Steeplechase always gives me the quality I look for in her work, it is flawless. I found the perfect match for the dress in the colour variations of the Stiletto Moody Pinup Patent Pump. I really love the shape of this shoe, and the colour change version is so very versatile. An adorable Ari Handbag from {Cherry} in a great graphic print means that you can pair it up with so many more outfits. The fresh white accents make it perfect for spring.



This lovely Portia hair from Philotic Energy is a really lovely and fresh up-do, and the floral accent is perfection. The red Hibiscus flower is perfectly sculpted. This style is perfect for a formal or summer fresh look. Another lovely fresh faced skin from -AnaLu-'s *InRainbows* line of modified skins, I am almost wearing them exclusively lately, I think it is mostly the shape of the lips that has my heart. MMS (now LeLutka) Thora Lashes and Big Hazel Eyes are from Miriel.
